Anthony Licon - Biography
A California native, Anthony Licon grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles where he was raised amid the 1980's pop culture of cartoons, sitcoms, movies, theme parks, and so-called "retro" video games. At 16 he met Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnson, Marc Davis and Stan Lee (though not at the same time) who each inspired him to pursue a career as an artist. He went on to study Character Animation at California Institute of the Arts and later Illustration at Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena. While Anthony shows a distinct affinity toward vintage illustrations, advertisements, and design, his primary inspirations are derived from culture, people, places, objects, experiences, observations and curiosity.
Professionally, Anthony has worked for a number of giants in the entertainment industry, including Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Online, Warner Bros. Consumer Products-Gallery & Collectibles, Interplay Productions, Marvel Enterprises, Inc., Kellogg Co., Mattel, Inc., and McGraw-Hill, as well as the nationally televised Tournament of Roses Association. He's currently employed as an Art Director for Disney and lives in north Los Angeles with his wife, Karianne, his daughter, Gillian, and their beagle, Mister Monkey.
